The scrum process keeps us moving. Our epics give us direction. But how do we blend swimming (focused deep work) with looking up to see where you’re going? Given we only plan epics once every few months, how do we know we're prioritising the right stuff?

Guidelines to planning meetings
- How often should we plan?
- Who's in charge and what do they do?
Draft agenda
- Meeting preparation before meeting
- What have we done and how are we tracking?
- What are we doing this upcoming sprint?
Key outcome: a realistic list of tasks with key priorities 🐸
At the end of this process, you ideally have a list of tasks for the upcoming sprint that is:
- Realistic. A staff member isn't expected to do more than 30 hours per week.
- Prioritised. It's hard to get everything done. So, what is the most important thing?
- Aligned with long-term goals. Academic success comes from the big fish.
These tasks should help us be angling for those fish, and these meetings ensure that.
